My Love Letter To All The Wonderful Plant Based Black Folks I Met During Covid

By | September 3, 2021

Greetings all,

It has been one solid year of eating like I got some sense.

One year ago, my doctor spit out an awful diagnosis.

High Blood Pressure.

Stroke adjacent.

Daily Pills.

After being pissed off and eating my through a pandemic for five months, I made a decision. I would not be a statistic and would win the health battle.

While I couldn’t change my race or age, I could change what went into my mouth.

On September 1st, 2020, I gave up meat, dairy and eggs.

I replaced these health killers with vegetables, fruit and loads of water.

While the journery contained a few hiccups (cookies made with crack and a bitrthday party or two) for the most part I stuck to my eating plan.

To share this journey, I created a documentary to share what changes could be made and encouraged 10,000 black men to put down the fried chicken and pick up the brussel sprouts and cauliflower.

What I hadn’t planned on was meeting a group of wonderful black folks who would guide and support me on this journey.

This is my love letter to them.

Pick up their cook books. Join their classes and as Lisa Smith would say – Come Get This Health!

Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!
